Eur.1 Certificate.
A EUR.1 certificate is a customs document used in trade between the European Union (EU) and certain non-EU countries. The certificate confirms that goods exported from the EU are of preferential origin and qualify for reduced import duties or even exemptions from import duties in the destination country.
A EUR.1 certificate is required if an exporter wants to export goods from the EU to a country with which the EU has a trade agreement that provides for preferential tariffs. The certificate is required to claim the preferential tariffs and can be requested from the customs authorities of the exporting country.
Although it is not mandatory to have a EUR.1 certificate, its absence can lead to higher import duties and delays at customs. Therefore, it is strongly recommended for exporters to apply for the certificate if they plan to have export goods to countries with which the EU has a trade agreement.
Do you import yourself with agreement country? Then ask if your supplier will include a EUR.1 certificate with the shipment to get a discount or exemption from import duties on imports.
