An example of mandatory stickers for trucks in Europe

Dead Angle Stickers ('Angles Morts') - France

Since Jan. 1, 2021, it has been in France requires all trucks, combinations and coaches over 3.5 tons to display special blind spot decals known as "Angles Morts." These stickers must be placed on both the sides and rear of the vehicle to warn other road users of the vehicle's blind spots.

Environmental stickers - Germany & Austria

Germany

At Germany there are environmental zones ("Umweltzonen") where trucks are only allowed to drive if they have a valid environmental sticker ("Umweltplakette"). This sticker indicates the emission class of the vehicle. Without the proper sticker, you risk a fine and are not allowed to enter certain areas.

Austria

Austria has a similar environmental sticker requirement. Here you must apply for the "Umwelt-Pickerl" if you are driving a truck through environmental zones.

ADR Markings for Hazardous Materials

Trucks transporting hazardous materials within Europe must comply with the ADR regulations. This includes putting up specific orange signs and labels that identify the type and hazard class of the load indicate. These markings are for safety and inform emergency services in case of an incident.

Contour markings according to ECE 104 Regulations

To improve truck visibility and safety, it is mandatory in Europe to apply reflective contour markings to heavy and long vehicles. These markings must comply with the ECE 104 regulation and help other road users better assess the vehicle's dimensions, especially in the dark.
